Ethereal Fairy Costume 18 Inch Doll Sewing Pattern

This PDF pattern will allow you to sew an Ethereal Fairy costume to fit your 18 inch doll.

If you venture into the wild places of the world and are very lucky, you may spot one of these beautiful and enchanting creatures.

The pattern includes two different shirt options and two skirt options for a total of four different combinations.

Skill Level:  Intermediate

Tools and Materials:

Shirt 1:

• 9 by 10 inches of light to mid-weight woven fabric
  
• 20 inches of ¼ - ⅜ inch wide ribbon
  
• 11 inches of ¼ - ⅜ inch wide lace trim
  
• 3½ inches of ⅜ - ½ inch wide lace trim (gathered lace)
  
• 2 sets of sew-in snaps
  
• Sharp/universal needle
  
• Matching thread
  
• Tailor’s chalk or similar
  
• Optional – 3 by 4¾ inch piece of lace if adding an overlay
  
• Optional – lace appliques, beads, alcohol markers for embellishment

Shirt 2:

• 8½ by 11 inches of light to mid-weight woven fabric
  
• 13½ inches of ¼ - ⅜ inch wide ribbon
  
• 2 x ⅜ inch wide D-rings or jump rings
  
• 2 sets of sew-in snaps
  
• Sharp/universal needle
  
• Matching thread
  
• Lighter or fray block
  
• Optional – 3 by 5½ inch piece of lace if adding an overlay
  
• Optional – lace appliques, beads, alcohol markers for embellishment

Skirt 1:

• ¼ yard of light to mid-weight woven
  
• 7½ inches of ⅜ inch wide elastic
  
• Optional – 10½ inches of wide lace trim
  
• Matching thread
  
• Sharp/Universal needle
  
• Bodkin or safety pin
  
• Lighter or fray block
  
• Optional – lace appliques, beads, alcohol markers for embellishment

Skirt 2:

• 6 inches by 4 inches of mid-weight woven fabric for the waistband
  
• 7 inches by 10¼ inches light to mid-weight woven for the lining
  
• A variety of scrap fabric and trims – enough to cut 24-30 pieces that are 3½ - 4½ inches long
  
• Two 1⅜ inch long pieces of ⅜ - ½ wide lace trim with holes in the design OR
  
• Two 1⅜ inch long pieces of ⅜ wide lace trim and 6 jump rings
  
• Lighter or fray block
  
• Matching thread
  
• Sharp/Universal needle
  
• Optional – lace appliques, beads, alcohol markers for embellishment
