Steampunk Jacket 18 Inch Doll Sewing Pattern

This digital doll clothes pattern will let you sew the Steampunk Jacket for your 18-inch doll.

This fully lined jacket features a two-tiered peplum, bias binding detail and a decorative front plastron. It looks great as a steampunk jacket but also works well in fancy fabrics such as Chinese brocade. All seams are hidden within the bias binding or the lining.

This jacket can be made in a variety of fabrics, including faux/micro suede, Chinese brocade, quilting cottons or light weight faux leather (not vinyl). The lining works best as a lightweight cotton or cotton blend that coordinates with the fashion fabric,

You can choose to make the jacket with or without the plastron to change up the look. If omitting the plastron, mini clasps are recommended as a closure for the front.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Tools and Materials:

• ⅓ yard of midweight woven fabric blends for main body of the jacket
  
• ¼ yard of light weight cotton or blends for the lining
  
• 5” x 8” piece of canvas or twill for the inner layer of the Plastron
  
• 5 hook and eyes or 5 mini clasps
  
• 6 sew-in snaps (omit if making a jacket without the Plastron)
  
• 4 yards of double fold, ¼”/6mm bias binding
  
• 14 – approximately ¼” hot fix studs OR buttons OR flat backed pearls or rhinestones
  
• Sharp or Microtex needle
  
• Matching thread
  
• Removable marking method such as heat erasable pen tailors chalk or tracing wheel and paper
